ACT i : Exploring the Galaxy
We know that leaving home can be daunting, but every young Padawan must one day embark on their own journey. Arriving at college may feel intimidating at first—navigating a new place, meeting new people, and leaving behind familiar comforts. Like exploring uncharted star systems, it takes time to find your way. But fear not! Our small yet mighty college has much to offer, with countless ways to engage. By connecting new students with resources and opportunities, we aim to empower them to get involved, forge new paths, and make the most of their adventure at Rice University!
ACT ii: Discovering Your Inner Jedi
Everyone comes to college with a very different idea of what they want to do. We want to help our New Students feel prepared to face the many challenges that might arise during their time at Rice. No one’s future is set in stone, and the time that we spend in college changes us all in different ways. Through connection and support from the Core-Team, Advisors, Community Facilitators, and Peer Academic Advisors, we aim to help strengthen the New Students personal development and give them the tools to shoot for the stars!
ACT iii : Forging New Alliances
Will Rice is a diverse and welcoming family, and we want to extend a welcoming hand to all the New Students as they forge new relationships with their peers. Will Rice is a community of amazing people who come from completely different parts of the galaxy, and by learning about and from each other, and celebrating our differences, we can all grow as individuals. We hope to instill within our New Students the confidence to branch out and try new things and meet new people, forming connections that may last a lifetime!

We hope to empower each New Student to embark on their journey with courage and curiosity, discover new realms of knowledge, and forge lifelong connections. Just as the heroes of the Star Wars saga faced tribulations and achieved greatness, we encourage our new Phoenixes to embrace the challenge, harness their unique abilities, and become the legends of tomorrow. Together, we will create a universe where every student can thrive, innovate, and lead with integrity. While everyone’s journey will take them somewhere different, we want you all to know you always have a home at Will Rice.
