What to Bring

Provided by WRC:

  • Twin XL bed and bed frame

  • Desk and desk chair

  • A closet

  • A dresser

  • Small desk drawers

  • Ethernet port

  • Electrical outlets

  • One trash can per bed

  • One single-stream recycling bin

  • Air conditioning and heating

  • Window blinds

  • Free washer and dryers

  • Vacuums to borrow

  • Trash bags

  • Student and visitor Wi-Fi

  • Overhead light bulbs

  • Computer lab (with both Macs and Windows)

  • A printer (in the computer lab)

  • Two pianos, a drum set, and a music room

  • A commons kitchen with an oven, microwave, stove, and refrigerators

  • Cards and board games, and a game room

*Each New Dorm room has its own bathroom, with provided toilet paper and a shower curtain.

New Dorm double

Important Items:

  • XL twin (this is different from twin size!) bed linens: sheets, comforters, and blankets

  • Pillow(s)

  • Towels

  • Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, etc.

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Laundry detergent/pods

  • Laundry bag/basket

  • Backpack and school supplies

  • Laptop/computer

  • Money (cash, credit cards, checks)

  • IDs (driver’s license, passport, etc.)

  • Up-to-date insurance or a prescription card

  • Any medication you will need

  • Dress clothes (for O-Week matriculation)

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (O-Week can get messy)

  • Rain boots / shoes that can get wet (Houston is pretty rainy)

  • Umbrella

*If you are in New Dorm, bring hand soap!

Nice To Have:

  • Mini fridge and/or microwave (microwaves and refrigerators are limited to one per person)

  • Rug(s)

  • Power strips and extension cords

  • Extra storage drawers

  • Shower caddy (for communal bathrooms)

  • Floor or desk lamps

  • Room decorations

  • Reusable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils

  • Iron and ironing board or steamer

  • Command hooks

  • Bicycle (and lock), skateboard, longboard, or scooter

  • Dryer sheets

  • Shower/toiletries caddy (communal bathrooms for Old Dorm)

  • Bathroom organizer (hanging bins, shower shelf, small cart, etc.)

  • Swiffer, duster, broom + dustpan, etc.

  • Clorox wipes

  • Febreze

  • Hand sanitizer, tissue boxes

  • Face masks, COVID-19 rapid tests

  • COVID-19 vaccination card
